Already owning a NuCanoe Pursuit, I was already familiar with the high quality of the brand. My trying out a Flint seemed like the only option when I decided to look for a smaller kayak for creeks and rivers. I had always thought that a "little brother" on the Pursuit would be fantastic and I am happy to say I was right.

The NuCanoe Flint is a great kayak whether it be for the beginner or the experienced kayak angler that knows what he/she wants. It is incredibly light for a quality fishing kayak, very quick, tracks great for a kayak of its size and it paddles like a dream.

The perfect kayak for fishing creeks, streams and rivers, I have found that it also excels on large lakes and even open ocean. The hull sits low in the water and sheds wind almost as easily as it drains water through its 8 scupper holes. The wide open deck is truly a blank canvas to be rigged with all of the essentials that an experienced angler could want and the ability to easily transport it makes it the perfect grab and go kayak. I highly recommend the NuCanoe Flint to anyone looking for a kayak whether they are a beginner or an advanced angler. The NuCanoe Flint truly is the little kayak that does it all!

  • A great boat to get you started or for small water

This boat is marketed as an entry level boat but its build quality is top notch. I look at it as a blank canvas to add only the accessories you absolutely need for fishing. I added the Fire Starter Kit to mine and highly recommend that. This boat paddles well and has great secondary stability. This boat is great for fishing small moving water where dragging a heavy kayak to and from the water can ruin a day before it ever starts. This boat also performs admirably on large lakes as long as you understand the limits. Again, this is a quality boat that can get you into the sport of kayak fishing without breaking the bank. Highly recommended.

I own a NuCanoe Flint, Frontier, and Pursuit. I love all three of them for different reasons. The Flint is my go-to skinny water boat. If I am fishing a creek or small river, I’ll be in my Flint. It is also the kayak my daughters and wife fish out of. I’ll admit when I first got in my Flint I thought it felt tipsy. I was coming from a Frontier and Pursuit so it is more tipsy than them. After an hour of fishing I can honestly say I’ve never noticed the tipsy feel. It has pretty good secondary stability. It is a very light kayak compared to the Frontier or Pursuit and it turn on a dime making it great in moving water. I can carry it over my head pretty easy which makes it great for getting to the hard to reach waters. I mostly fish moving water so I’ve never kept up with how fast I paddle but it is easy to paddle against a current in my opinion. The price point makes it a great kayak for starting out or for a second kayak to take kids or friends and family.
