Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

The 360 drive is the reason to buy this boat. A MirageDrive 180 gives you forward and reverse. The MirageDrive 360 moves the hull in any direction on the compass without turning the boat at all. Hobie’s own framing is "pedal kayaking in every direction. Literally."

What that buys an angler is holding position. Wind pushing you off a ledge, current sliding you past a laydown, a fish running under the boat. You correct with your feet, sideways if you need to, and your hands never leave the rod. Nobody who has fished a 360 goes back to arguing about it.

Underneath, it is a Pro Angler 12. Twelve feet, 36 inches wide, 500 lbs of capacity, rotomolded polyethylene, the Vantage ST seat, the H-Rail down both gunwales and the Guardian retractable transducer shield.

One thing to know before you buy. This is the previous-generation Pro Angler 360, not the current 360XR. Hobie has moved the line to the XR, so some figures published on their site now describe the XR rather than this boat. What does the 360 drive do that the 180 does not?

A MirageDrive 180 gives you forward and full-power reverse along the line of the boat. The 360 rotates the whole drive, so you can push the hull sideways, diagonally, or spin it in place. Hobie describes it as moving "in every degree on the compass." For holding a position against wind or current while you fish, there is nothing else like it.

Is this the 360XR?

No. This is the previous-generation Pro Angler 360, not the current 360XR. Hobie has moved the line to the XR, so some figures published on their site now describe the XR rather than this boat. Should I just buy the 180 version instead?

Plenty of people should. The Pro Angler 12 runs the MirageDrive 180 on the same hull for a lot less money, and forward-plus-reverse covers most fishing. Buy the 360 if you fish current, wind or structure where holding an exact position is what decides the day.

What about the 14 foot 360?

The Pro Angler 14 360 is the same drive on a longer, wider hull with 600 lbs of capacity instead of 500. It tracks better on open water and carries more. It is also heavier to load.

What are Kick-Up Fins?

Fins that retract by themselves when they hit something. Hobie’s own line is "Logs, kelp, shallows, rocks, no problem." The fin folds back on impact and drops again once you are clear, so a stump in skinny water does not bend a mast.

Can I stand and fish in it?

Yes. Thirty-six inches of beam with a flat standing deck and grip pads through it. Standing is what the Pro Angler hull was drawn around.

How do I move it?

A cart. The Boonedox Groovy Landing Gear is built for the Pro Angler hull and is what most owners here run.

Will a fish finder mount without drilling?

Yes. The Guardian retractable transducer shield is molded in and the H-Rail carries the head unit.

What is the one mistake that voids the warranty?

Beaching the boat with the drive and rudder still down. Hobie lists it as an exclusion by name. Pull the MirageDrive up and flip the rudder before the hull touches sand or gravel. Two seconds, and it is the most common way these boats get damaged.

Do I need a life jacket with it?

Yes, and the law requires one on board. The Old Town Outfitter Universal is a USCG Type III cut thin through the back for a high seat.

How long is the Hobie warranty?

Hobie covers 3 years on 2019 and newer models against defects in materials, manufacturing and design. Hobie repairs or replaces at their discretion.

Who handles a warranty claim?

Hobie routes warranty claims through the authorized dealer you bought from, which is us. Within 30 days of finding a defect, bring the boat and your proof of purchase to us and we handle it from there. That is worth knowing before you buy a big boat from a marketplace seller with no dealer behind it.

What voids coverage?

Normal wear and discoloration, abuse, skipped maintenance, hitting submerged objects, mooring or storing the boat in the water, improper transport or storage, weather damage, modifications, and rental or commercial use. One exclusion catches people out: beaching the boat without retracting the MirageDrive and rudder first. Pull both up before you slide onto sand or gravel.

How does the Hobie Pro Angler 12 360 ship?

Two ways. If you are inside our delivery area, local delivery shows up as a shipping option at checkout and we bring the boat to you ourselves. We call ahead to set a meet-up, and since we do the unloading there is nothing for you to inspect or sign at the curb. Otherwise it ships LTL freight with a carrier running a 99.9% damage-free rate.
