It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

The Pro Angler 14 is the big one. Thirteen feet eight inches, 38 inches wide, and 600 lbs of capacity. If the Pro Angler 12 runs out of room or runs out of water underneath you, this is the answer.

Length buys two things. It tracks and carries speed on open water where a 12 foot hull gets shoved around, and it gives you six horizontal rod lockers instead of a mix of horizontal and vertical. Rods lay flat, out of the wind, ready.

The MirageDrive 180 is the same one the rest of the Pro Angler line runs. Forward, then full-power reverse without changing what your hands are doing. Turbo fins, Kick-Up design, ARC cranks.

The Vantage ST seat runs on barrel adjusters and raises 5 inches. Sit low to cross wind, crank it up to sight fish. It comes out of the boat when you want to carry it separately.

Hobie Pro Angler 14 Questions, Answered

Pro Angler 14 or Pro Angler 12?

The 14 carries 100 lbs more, tracks better on open water and gives you six horizontal rod lockers. The Pro Angler 12 is 20 inches shorter, 15.5 lbs lighter fitted, and easier to load and store. Big water and heavy loads go to the 14. Tight water and a solo load-up go to the 12.

What about the 360 version?

The Pro Angler 14 360 runs Hobie’s 360 drive, which moves the boat in any direction without turning the hull. This boat runs the MirageDrive 180, which is forward and full-power reverse. The 180 is the proven one and it is a lot less money.

What is the MirageDrive 180?

A pedal drive with two fins under the hull that you drive with your legs. The 180 part is reverse: Hobie’s own line is "full power reverse with the one and only MirageDrive 180", and it is instant. Pull a cable and the fins flip, so you back off a laydown or hold against current without picking up a paddle. The Turbo fins on this boat have more surface area than the standard ST fins.

What are Kick-Up Fins and do I need them?

They retract on their own when they hit something. Hobie’s description is blunt: "Logs, kelp, shallows, rocks, no problem." The fin folds back, then drops again once you are clear. Before Kick-Up fins, hitting a stump in skinny water is how you bent a mast. You do not order them separately, they come on this boat.

Is 144 lbs too much boat?

It is a real number and you should plan for it. The seat and the drive both come out, which drops what you are lifting. Most owners use a cart from the vehicle to the water rather than carrying it. If you launch alone from a steep bank every time, look hard at the 12.

Can I stand up in it?

Yes. Thirty-eight inches of beam is the widest hull Hobie builds in this line, and the standing deck is flat with grip pads through it. This is the most stable boat in the Pro Angler range.

How do I get it to the water?

A cart. The Boonedox Groovy Landing Gear is made for the Pro Angler hull. At 144 lbs rigged, this is not a boat you drag.

What is the one mistake that voids the warranty?

Beaching the boat with the drive and rudder still down. Hobie lists it as an exclusion by name. Reach down, pull the MirageDrive up and flip the rudder before the hull touches sand or gravel. It takes two seconds and it is the single most common way people damage these boats.

Do I need a life jacket with it?

Yes, and the law requires one on board. The Old Town Outfitter Universal is a USCG Type III cut thin through the back for a high seat.

How long is the Hobie warranty?

Hobie covers 3 years on 2019 and newer models against defects in materials, manufacturing and design. Hobie repairs or replaces at their discretion.

Who handles a warranty claim?

Hobie routes warranty claims through the authorized dealer you bought from, which is us. Within 30 days of finding a defect, bring the boat and your proof of purchase to us and we handle it from there. That is worth knowing before you buy a big boat from a marketplace seller with no dealer behind it.

What voids coverage?

Normal wear and discoloration, abuse, skipped maintenance, hitting submerged objects, mooring or storing the boat in the water, improper transport or storage, weather damage, modifications, and rental or commercial use. One exclusion catches people out: beaching the boat without retracting the MirageDrive and rudder first. Pull both up before you slide onto sand or gravel.

How does the Hobie Pro Angler 14 ship?

Two ways. If you are inside our delivery area, local delivery shows up as a shipping option at checkout and we bring the boat to you ourselves. We call ahead to set a meet-up, and since we do the unloading there is nothing for you to inspect or sign at the curb. Otherwise it ships LTL freight with a carrier running a 99.9% damage-free rate.
