Shipping Damage Free Guarantee

Accessory Shipments

Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.

It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to securing an unruly load on a truck, trailer, boat or ATV. The NRS 1.5" Strap delivers 2,000 lbs Minimum Breaking Strength and a 650 lb Working Load Limit, which takes the worry out of any tie-down job.

NRS straps were born on the river in 1978, made for tying gear and frames onto whitewater rafts where a failure is not an inconvenience. Clunky ratchet straps and cheap imitations do not compete. There is nothing to jam, nothing to over-tension, and nothing to fight at four in the morning in a parking lot.

The webbing is UV-protected polypropylene that will not stretch when wet — which matters, because a strap that stretches in the rain is a loose strap by mile ten. The cam buckle is die-cast treated zinc with two stainless-steel springs for a bite that does not slip.

This is the heavy one. If you are strapping a single kayak, the 1" Heavy Duty Strap is plenty. If you are strapping a loaded trailer, a raft frame or a stack of boats, take these.

Specifications

  • Width: 1.5"
  • Minimum Breaking Strength: 2,000 lbs
  • Working Load Limit: 650 lbs
  • Webbing: UV-protected polypropylene, will not stretch when wet
  • Buckle: Die-cast treated zinc cam buckle, two stainless-steel springs
  • Sold As: Pairs
  • Lengths We Stock: 12', 15', 20'
  • Extras: Woven name-and-contact label, bottle opener in the buckle
  • Made Since: 1978

Key Features

  • 2,000 lb Minimum Breaking Strength: The strongest cam strap NRS builds, with a 650 lb working load limit. Buy these when the load is heavy or the consequence of losing it is severe.
  • Will Not Stretch When Wet: UV-protected polypropylene. A strap that stretches in the rain is loose by the next exit, which is how boats leave roofs.
  • Dual Stainless Springs: Two springs in a die-cast zinc cam buckle give an even bite that does not creep.
  • Faster Than a Ratchet: Thread it, pull it, done. Nothing to jam, nothing to crank, nothing to release under load with your fingers in the way.
  • Name Label: A woven name-and-contact label near the buckle, because the real failure mode of a good strap is a friend borrowing it.
  • Bottle Opener in the Buckle: NRS put it there on purpose. It is the most popular strap hack there is.
  • On the River Since 1978: Designed for whitewater raft frames, which is the hardest tie-down job there is.

NRS 1.5" Heavy Duty Straps Questions, Answered

1.5" or 1"?

The 1.5" is the heavy-duty answer: 2,000 lbs breaking strength and a 650 lb working load, for trailers, raft frames, stacked boats and anything you would lose sleep over. The 1" Heavy Duty Strap carries 1,500 lbs breaking strength with a 500 lb working load and is the right strap for a kayak on a roof rack. Most people own both.

What is the difference between breaking strength and working load?

Minimum Breaking Strength is where the strap fails. Working Load Limit is what you should actually load it to — 650 lbs here. Never design a tie-down around the breaking number; use the working number and use more straps.

Why not just use ratchet straps?

Speed and control. A cam strap tightens by pulling and stops when you stop, so you cannot over-tension and dent a hull. A ratchet keeps cranking, jams under load, and takes two hands and a good mood to release.

How many do I need?

Two for most single loads, and they come in pairs for that reason. Add bow and stern lines for anything on a roof at highway speed — straps hold the boat down, bow and stern lines stop it pivoting.

Do they work on a wet load?

Yes, and that is the point of the polypropylene. It does not absorb water and it does not stretch when wet, so the strap you tightened at the takeout is still tight when you get home.

How does it ship?

Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
