Accessory Shipments

Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.

It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.
NRS Warranty

NRS Rock Solid Guarantee

NRS guarantees all of its products to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship. If NRS finds a product defective, they repair it, replace it, or refund the purchase price at their option.

  • Coverage: Defects in materials and workmanship, to the original owner.
  • Inflatables: Boats and SUP boards carry a set warranty period that varies by model, from 1 to 10 years for consumer use and shorter for commercial use.
  • Frames: Lifetime warranty on all aluminum frame parts to the original owner.
  • Not covered: Normal wear and tear, accidents, abuse, alteration, modification, misuse, and improper care. Zipper damage from accidents, misuse or lack of care is not covered either.

Repairs

NRS runs its own repair shop for leaks, tears, punctures, gaskets and zippers, including on gear that is past its warranty. Pricing and turnaround are on the NRS repairs page.

1,500 lbs Minimum Breaking Strength and a 500 lb Working Load Limit, on UV-protected polypropylene webbing that will not stretch when wet. That last part is the one people learn the hard way: a strap that absorbs water is a loose strap by the time you hit the highway.

The cam buckle is die-cast treated zinc with dual stainless-steel springs for a strong, even bite that does not slip. The strap length is marked right on the buckle, so there is no guessing which coil you grabbed. A woven name tag near the buckle lets you reclaim them from friends. And there is a hidden bottle opener on the buckle, which is the most popular strap hack there is.

NRS 1" Heavy Duty Straps Questions, Answered

What length do I need for a kayak on a roof rack?

Most people use 12 or 15 foot straps for a single kayak on crossbars, and that leaves enough tail to work with. Go 9 foot if your bars are close together and you hate loose ends; go 20 foot if you are running two boats or a wide load. They come in pairs because you want one strap per crossbar.

1" or 1.5"?

This 1" strap is the everyday choice — 1,500 lbs breaking, 500 lb working load, fine for kayaks, gear and truck beds. The 1.5" Heavy Duty Strap goes to 2,000 lbs breaking and a 650 lb working load for trailers, raft frames and stacked boats. Owning both is the normal end state.

Do I still need bow and stern lines?

Yes, on anything going highway speed. Straps over the hull hold the boat down to the bars. Bow and stern lines stop it from pivoting and take the load if a rack fails. Two straps and two lines is the standard setup and it is worth the extra minute.

Can I over-tighten and dent my kayak?

It is easier to do with a ratchet than a cam strap, which is one reason paddlers prefer cam straps. Pull snug, not brutal. A thermoformed or composite hull especially does not need to be crushed into the bars.

How do I keep the loose ends from flapping?

Coil the tail and tuck it under the taut section, or tie a couple of half hitches around the strap. A tail left loose at 70 mph slaps the paint off a car and can work the buckle loose.

Do they wear out?

Eventually. Check the webbing for abrasion and fading and the buckle springs for a weak bite each season. The webbing is UV protected, but nothing survives a decade strapped to a roof in the sun forever.

How does it ship?

Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
