Shipping Damage Free Guarantee

Accessory Shipments

Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.

It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

The NRS Neko is a river knife that stays out of the way until the one moment you need it. Compact, low profile, and it clips to the lash tab on your life jacket so it is on your chest rather than in a dry bag you cannot reach.

The tip is blunt on purpose. On moving water you are cutting rope, webbing or line, often against your own body or someone else’s, frequently one-handed and not looking. A point has no job in that situation except to hurt somebody.

The blade is 420HC stainless with both a serrated section and a smooth razor section — serrations tear through rope and webbing fast, the razor edge handles finer cuts. The handle is a full metal tang with a TPU overmold, so it stays grippy wet.

The sheath is fiberglass-reinforced nylon with a simple friction release: it holds the knife firmly and still lets you draw one-handed. There is also a squared hole in the handle that works as an oxygen tank valve wrench, and a bottle opener. It clips to the NRS Chinook lash tab and most other PFDs.

Specifications

  • Blade Material: 420HC stainless steel
  • Blade Edge: Smooth and serrated
  • Blade Tip: Blunt
  • Blade Length: 2.25"
  • Total Length: 5.75"
  • Handle: Full metal tang with TPU overmold
  • Sheath: Fiberglass-reinforced nylon, friction release
  • Weight: 3.5 oz with sheath, 2.9 oz knife only
  • Extras: Oxygen tank valve wrench, bottle opener

Key Features

  • Blunt Tip: Deliberate. You cut rope and webbing against a body in current, one-handed and often blind. A point only creates a second emergency.
  • Serrated and Smooth Edges: Serrations chew through rope and webbing under load; the razor section handles fishing line and finer work.
  • One-Hand Deployment: A friction-release sheath holds it securely and still lets you pull it with one hand, which is the only hand you may have.
  • Clips to a PFD Lash Tab: It rides on your chest, not in a hatch. A rescue knife you cannot reach is not a rescue knife.
  • Full Metal Tang: The steel runs through the handle, with a TPU overmold that stays grippy when wet.
  • 3.5 oz: Light enough that you stop noticing it, which is how it ends up being there when it matters.
  • Oxygen Valve Wrench: A squared hole in the handle turns an oxygen tank valve — a detail that tells you who NRS designed this for.
  • Bottle Opener: At the takeout.

NRS Neko Blunt Knife Questions, Answered

Why would I want a blunt tip?

Because on the water you are almost never stabbing anything. You are cutting rope, webbing or line, usually against a person, often one-handed and in current. A sharp point in that situation is a liability, not a feature. Every serious rescue knife is blunt for the same reason.

Where do I carry it?

On your life jacket. The sheath clip attaches firmly to a PFD lash tab — the NRS Chinook has one built in. A knife in a hatch or a dry bag might as well be at home.

Will it come out of the sheath on its own?

The friction-release sheath is designed to hold it securely through swims and rolls while still releasing to a one-handed pull. Check the fit when it is new and check it again every season as the sheath wears.

Serrated or smooth — which part do I use?

Serrated for rope, webbing and anchor line, because serrations bite into a loaded line instead of sliding. The smooth razor section is for fishing line and anything that needs a cleaner cut.

How do I keep it from rusting?

420HC is a corrosion-resistant stainless, but it is not immune. Rinse it with fresh water after salt, pull it out of the sheath to dry rather than leaving it sealed in wet, and put a drop of oil on the blade if it is going to sit through the winter.

What is the squared hole in the handle for?

It is an oxygen tank valve wrench. That is a rescue-professional detail, and it is a fair signal of who this knife was designed around.

How does it ship?

Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
