Shipping Damage Free Guarantee

Accessory Shipments

Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.

It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

The Apex Watercraft Ringer Large Whitewater Kayak is a carbon fiber whitewater kayak that weighs 25 pounds. A comparable plastic boat runs 20 to 25 pounds heavier. That shows up on the walk to the put-in, on the load and unload, and most of all on the water.

Apex builds the Ringer around a full planing hull and an airfoil profile. From above the boat looks like an aerobatic airfoil, and from the side it is half of one. The stern follows the bow instead of fighting it, so the boat holds a line with less correction. The bow sits high and rockered to stay dry and clear features, while the flatter stern resists squatting. The ends are very light, and low swing weight is what makes this boat turn and boof with so little effort.

Outfitting is built for control and for dialing in your own fit. A true bucket seat, overhanging hip-pad hooks that lock you in without pinching, mini-cell foam you can trim, hip shims for lean paddlers, aluminum foot braces that adjust while you are seated, and a rope-and-cleat backband system that has been in use since 2004.

This is the Large, built for paddlers from 180 to 240 pounds. Every Apex hull is handcrafted by Nelo in Portugal, a composite shop with more than 40 years behind it.

Apex Watercraft Ringer Large Questions, Answered

How much lighter is the Ringer than a plastic whitewater kayak?

The Large weighs 25 pounds. A comparable plastic boat is typically 20 to 25 pounds heavier. If you want to feel the difference before you paddle one, carry a 20 pound dumbbell along with your current boat from the car to the water. That is the weight you stop carrying.

What size paddler is the Ringer Large built for?

180 to 240 pounds. Apex also builds the Ringer in Medium (120-190 lb, 23 lb) and Small (80-150 lb, 21 lb). If you are near the edge of a range, call us at (615) 696-7887 before you order.

Do I need to be an expert to paddle a Ringer?

No. Apex builds it for beginner, intermediate and expert paddlers. The lighter boat is easier to accelerate and easier to turn, which helps a developing paddler as much as it helps a racer.

What does a full planing hull do for me?

Plenty of kayaks claim a planing hull without being flat end to end. The Ringer is flat where it needs to be, which makes it loose and fast on waves and easy to spin, grind and surf. Paired with the low swing weight, it feels quick without feeling nervous.

Will a carbon kayak hold up on rocky rivers?

Carbon is built for years of hard use, and damage is repairable rather than permanent. Apex sells a carbon repair kit for exactly that. Straight answer: on a river with constant sharp rock impacts, plastic still makes sense. Everywhere else, carbon is the better boat.

Can I adjust the outfitting to fit me?

Yes, and it is meant to be adjusted. The mini-cell foam trims easily, hip-pad shims add contact for lean paddlers, the foot braces move while you are seated, and the rope-and-cleat backband is simple to service. Everything is designed to be adjustable and repairable.

Who builds the Ringer?

Nelo, in Portugal. They have been building composite boats for over 40 years. Apex designs the hull and outfitting, Nelo lays up the carbon.

How does the Ringer ship?

Two ways. If you are inside our delivery area, local delivery shows up as a shipping option at checkout and we bring the boat to you ourselves. We call ahead to set a meet-up, and since we do the unloading there is nothing for you to inspect or sign at the curb. Otherwise it ships LTL freight with a carrier running a 99.9% damage-free rate. On a freight delivery, look the boat over before you sign the receipt and write down any damage you see. That one step protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours. We email the full details once your order is placed.
