To qualify for a price match, the following conditions must be met:

  • The customer must submit a price match request through the form or contact Caney Fork Outdoors directly with retailer details. The competitor must be an authorized U.S. brick-and-mortar or online retailer.

  • Price match requests must be submitted prior to purchase.

Accessory Shipments

Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.

It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.
Astral Warranty

Astral guarantees every product against defects in materials and workmanship for the reasonable lifespan of the product. Coverage goes to the original purchaser.

The Astral V-Eight Fisher PFD is built around one problem: fishing vests are hot. Astral's patented Airescape airflow system moves air through the back panel instead of trapping it, so your core temperature stays down through an August afternoon on flat water with no shade.

It is the minimal option in Astral's fishing line. Pre-shaped foam in the front and back gives it a fit that works for men and women, the high mesh back pairs with a high-back kayak seat, and velcro shoulder straps keep loose webbing from flapping. 16 pounds of buoyancy, USCG Type III, 1.4 pounds on the scale.

The fishing storage is there without the bulk: a pliers holster, an easy access slip pocket, a zippered pocket, and clipping points for line nips and retractors. If you want maximum organized capacity instead, the Sturgeon is the vest with the big Clamshell Pocket.

What does the Airescape system actually do?

It moves air through the vest instead of trapping it against your back. Astral holds a patent on it. In practice it is the difference between a vest you keep on through the hot part of the day and one you take off, which is the wrong call on the water.

V-Eight Fisher or Sturgeon?

Airflow versus storage. The V-Eight Fisher is the cooler, more minimal vest with Airescape and a high mesh back. The Sturgeon carries more, organized into one large Clamshell Pocket. Same 16 pounds of buoyancy, same price. Pick by whether you fish hot water or carry a lot of gear.

Does it fit women?

Yes. Astral pre-shapes the foam in both the front and back panels specifically so one vest fits men and women properly, rather than selling a scaled-down men's cut.

Will it work with my kayak seat?

The high mesh back is designed for high-back seats, so it sits against the seat rather than pushing you forward. It is the same consideration as the Sturgeon's Thin Vent back, handled with mesh instead.

What size should I order?

Measure your chest at its widest point. S/M is 31 to 37 inches, M/L is 38 to 44, L/XL is 45 to 51. Use the measurement, not your shirt size.

How much gear does it hold?

Enough for a focused setup: a pliers holster, an easy access slip pocket, a zippered pocket, and clipping points for line nips and retractors. It is deliberately minimal. If you carry a full tackle load on your chest, get the Sturgeon.

How much does it weigh?

1.4 pounds, about 22 ounces. It is roughly four ounces lighter than the Sturgeon, which you notice by the end of a long day.

Is it Coast Guard approved?

Yes. USCG Type III with 16 pounds of buoyancy. Type III counts as your required life jacket whether you are wearing it or it is stowed aboard.
