A motor you can carry in one hand. The Bixpy K-1 Outboard Kit is a jet-drive kayak motor that puts out 33 lbs of thrust and weighs under 10 lbs with the battery. It is the third generation of the Bixpy propulsion system, and the K-1 motor is about 20% shorter than the J-2 it replaces.

Run it for roughly 80 minutes wide open, or up to 12 hours if you throttle back and troll. A Bluetooth remote gives you 12 forward speeds and 3 reverse, and a double click sends it to full power. The motor comes off with a single bolt, so it goes from truck to water and back without tools.

This kit does not include a mounting adapter. Pick the adapter that matches your boat and buy it separately. Bixpy builds mounts for transoms, Power Pole holes, pedal drive openings, rod holders and flat decks, which covers most fishing kayaks, recreational kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, float tubes and small inflatables.

Does the Bixpy K-1 Outboard Kit come with a mount?

No. The kit is the motor, battery and controls. The mounting adapter is a separate purchase and it depends on your boat. Transom, Power Pole, pedal drive and flat-deck adapters all use the same K-1 motor.

How long will it run on one charge?

About 80 minutes at full throttle. Back it off to a trolling speed and you can stretch it to roughly 12 hours. Most days on a lake or a slow river fall somewhere in between.

What comes in the box?

The K-1 motor, the Outboard Battery V4 (378 Wh), the wireless remote, a magnetic kill switch with a floating leash, a universal 100-240 V wall charger, an Allen key for opening the propeller shroud, a 5 ml tube of di-electric grease, the quick start manual and a vinyl decal.

Is 33 lbs of thrust enough for my kayak?

For a solo fishing or recreational kayak, yes. It moves a loaded boat at a comfortable cruise and holds you against light current and wind. If you are pushing a heavy tandem or fighting hard current, look at the Angler Pro kit, which puts out 38 lbs with the larger battery.

Can I use it in salt water?

Yes. The body is anodized aluminum with corrosion-resistant components, rated for fresh water, brackish water and salt. Rinse it with fresh water after a salt day.

How does the remote work?

It pairs over Bluetooth and gives you 12 forward speeds and 3 reverse. A double click hits full power. It floats, and it wears on a lanyard so it stays with you.

Will it fit a paddle board or a canoe?

Yes, with the right adapter. Bixpy mounts cover paddle boards, canoes, float tubes, dinghies and small inflatables as well as kayaks. Match the adapter to the mounting surface you have.
