Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.
Kayak Shipments
We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.
If we hand deliver it
Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.
If it ships LTL freight
Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.
What we cover
Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.
Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.
Description
The Immersion Research Royale Rand is the toughest skirt IR builds. A tri-fin synthetic rubber rand grips the cockpit rim instead of a shock cord, so it stays sealed when a hole tries to rip it off. This is the skirt for steep creeks, big water, and long days on Tennessee rivers where a blown skirt ends the run.
The front casing is reinforced with an ultra-tough polymer top sheet chosen for tear strength and cut resistance. Behind it sits 4mm Supratex II neoprene across the deck and rear casing. Neoprene extends past the rand in an apron, so water sheds off the front instead of pooling at the seam.
Large silicone grip strips on the underside of the casing add implosion resistance and hold the skirt in place while you work it onto the rim. The Eagle Talon grab handle is grippy, highly visible, and keeps your hand from sliding off the end. A rand skirt takes more effort to put on than a bungee skirt. That is the trade for the seal.

Deck Size: measure your cockpit rim
The accurate measurement is your kayak's cockpit rim circumference. Run a string or tape around the rim at its broadest point, mark where you started, then lay the string flat and measure it.

If your boat lands near the end of a range, size up for easier on and off, size down for more implosion resistance. These ranges cover what about 95% of paddlers prefer. Cockpits under 84" or over 95" fall outside the two sizes we stock, so call us at (615) 696-7887 and we will sort it out.
Waist Size: start with your pants size
Use your normal pants waist size. If you do not know it, measure your waist with a soft tape and subtract 2 inches. That number is your tunnel size.

What size do I need?
Measure your cockpit rim circumference and match it to the Sizing tables above. Run a string around the rim at its broadest point, lay it flat and measure. We stock Large (84"-90") and X-Large (90"-95"). If your boat falls outside that, call us at (615) 696-7887 before you order.
My cockpit measures right between two sizes. Which one?
Immersion Research’s own guidance: size up for easier on and off, size down for more implosion resistance. The published ranges cover what about 95% of paddlers prefer, so either choice works — you are picking which trade-off you want.
How do I pick the waist size?
Start from your normal pants waist size. If you do not know it, measure your waist with a soft tape and subtract 2 inches. That number is your tunnel size.
What is a rand, and why would I want one?
Instead of a shock cord, a tri-fin synthetic rubber rand grips the cockpit rim. It does not stretch off the coaming when a hole loads the deck, which is why Immersion Research rates the Royale Rand Best in the line for implosion resistance. If a blown skirt would end your run, this is the skirt.
Is it harder to put on than a bungee skirt?
Yes, noticeably. That is the honest trade for the seal, and Immersion Research rates it Good rather than Best for ease of use. Expect to work it onto the rim rather than snap it on. The silicone grip strips hold it in place while you do.
Royale Rand or Klingon?
Take the Royale for steep creeks and big water where implosion resistance and durability matter more than anything else. Take the Klingon if you want the driest skirt in the line and an easier time getting it on.
How do I take care of it?
No washer, no dryer, no direct heat. Hang it to dry out of prolonged direct sunlight, and only put it away once it is 100% dry — neoprene stored damp is how a skirt starts to smell and delaminate. After salt water, rinse it with fresh water the same day.
How does it ship?
Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
