Kayak Shipments
We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.
If we hand deliver it
Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.
If it ships LTL freight
Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

The NRS Neso Helmet is a whitewater helmet built for rafters, kayakers, packrafters, and paddlers ready to step up to bigger water. It's a do-it-all helmet that covers you from your first eddy line on the Caney Fork to advanced boulder gardens and big air moves, without the price tag of a race helmet.
The DARC retention system dials in a precise fit with one turn of the knob. Inside, a multi-impact EPP foam liner absorbs hits without soaking up water, and soft EVA foam pads keep it comfortable through a full day on the water. The slotted ABS shell sheds heat and drains fast, and a slight brim keeps sun and spray out of your eyes.
A FidLock magnetic buckle and Y-strap webbing divider make the chin strap fast to clip and adjust, even with cold hands. The Neso meets CE/EN 1385 whitewater safety standards and comes in three sizes, so you can dial in fit whether you're running local rivers and lakes or heading out on a bigger trip.

NRS Neso Helmet Questions, Answered
Is this helmet certified?
Yes. The Neso meets CE EN 1385, the European standard for whitewater helmets. That is the certification to look for on a paddling helmet, and plenty of cheaper helmets do not carry it.
What is a multi-impact liner, and why does it matter?
Most bike helmets use EPS foam, which crushes once and is then finished. One hit and you replace it. The Neso uses EPP, which is multi-impact certified: it rebounds and keeps protecting through repeated knocks. On a river where you might bump a rock three times in one rapid, that is the difference that matters. EPP also does not soak up water.
How do I size the NRS Neso Helmet?
Measure around your head just above your eyebrows. XS/S covers 20–21.5 in (51–55 cm), M/L covers 21.5–23 in (55–59 cm), and XL/XXL covers 23–24 in (58–61 cm). The DARC dial takes up the fine adjustment, so get the shell size right first and let the dial do the rest.
What is the DARC retention system?
A fit dial at the back. One turn of the knob snugs the helmet to your head, and you can do it with the helmet on and gloves on. It is what keeps the helmet from shifting when you take a hit or roll.
Does it cover my ears?
No. The Neso is an open-ear design, which most paddlers prefer for hearing and comfort. If you are running serious creek lines or want the extra coverage, look at a full-cut helmet instead.
Will it fill up with water?
No. The slotted ABS shell is designed to drain and breathe, and the EPP liner does not absorb water the way some foams do. You are not carrying a bucket on your head after a roll.
What is the brim for?
It deflects water and sun out of your eyes. On a bright day looking downstream into glare, or coming up from a roll with water sheeting off the shell, it earns its keep.
Is the magnetic buckle secure?
The FidLock buckle holds under load and releases only when you slide it the right way, which is the point: it clips one-handed with cold hands and does not pop open on its own. A Y-strap webbing divider keeps the straps sitting correctly under your ears.
Do you need a helmet for kayaking?
It depends on the water. The Neso is built for moving water, rocks and rolling, and that is where a helmet earns its place. On a flat lake it is not standard kit. The moment there is current and hard things to hit, wear one.
Can you use a bike helmet for kayaking?
Not as a substitute for a paddling helmet. Most bike helmets use single-impact EPS foam that is finished after one hit. The Neso is certified to CE EN 1385, the whitewater helmet standard, and uses a multi-impact EPP liner that does not absorb water.
What should you look for in a kayak helmet?
Start with the certification: CE EN 1385 is the standard for whitewater helmets. Then check the liner (multi-impact EPP holds up to repeated hits), drainage, a fit dial you can adjust with gloves on, and coverage for the front, sides and back of your head. The Neso covers each of those. It leaves the ears open, so choose a full-cut helmet if you want ear coverage.
How does the NRS Neso Helmet ship?
Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
