Shipping Damage Free Guarantee
Accessory Shipments
Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.
It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.
Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.
Kayak Shipments
We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.
If we hand deliver it
Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.
If it ships LTL freight
Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.
What we cover
Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.
Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

- PDL pedal drive: 5 years from the original purchase date.
- Electric motor drives: 2 years from the original purchase date.
- Accessories such as paddles and life jackets: 1 year from the purchase date.

Filing a claim
Old Town handles warranty claims directly. Do not return the boat to your retailer for warranty repair. They issue a return authorization number before anything ships.
The Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota is the cheapest way into a motorized Old Town. A 45 lb thrust 12V Minn Kota mounted in a 10 ft 6 in hull, run from a powerboat-style throttle with a built-in battery meter.
Throttle, not GPS. This is the manual motor boat in the line. You twist for forward or reverse and you steer with the foot braces and the oversized rudder. If you want the motor to hold position by itself, that is the AutoPilot.
Capacity is the surprise here: 638 lbs Total Weight Capacity and 515 lbs Usable Weight Capacity, the most Usable Weight Capacity of any 10 ft 6 in boat we stock. The battery is not included and it takes a 12V Group 27 marine sealed deep cycle, lead-acid or lithium.

Key Features
- 45 lb Thrust Minn Kota: Saltwater-ready 12V motor. It gets you across the lake and back without a paddle stroke.
- Powerboat-Style Throttle: Twist for forward and reverse, with a battery meter built into the control. Nothing to learn if you have run a tiller boat.
- Foot Brace Steering: Steering moves to your feet, so both hands stay on the rod while the boat is under power.
- 515 lbs Usable Weight Capacity: The highest Usable Weight Capacity of any short boat in this lineup. A battery, a crate and a big angler all fit.
- Four 18 in Tracks: Twice the rail of the paddle boats, so electronics, rod holders and a camera arm all get a home.
- Extra Large Rudder: Real control in both directions, which matters more under power than under paddle.
- Three Thru-Hull Wiring Kits: Run fish finder wiring without drilling into your boat.
- Integrated Kick Stand: Designed to dock and deploy cleanly when you launch and land.
- Console Floor Plug: Stores in the tank well. Plug the console opening and paddle the boat with the motor off.
- Kill Switch Key: Holds the spare prop pin and doubles as a prop wrench, so the fix is on the lanyard.
Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota Questions, Answered
Does it come with a battery?
No. You supply a 12V Group 27 marine sealed deep cycle battery, lead-acid or lithium. The battery box is pre-wired, so you drop the battery in, plug it in and go.
How is this different from the AutoPilot?
Control. This boat has a throttle you operate by hand. The Sportsman AutoPilot 120 adds GPS Spot-Lock and a Bluetooth i-Pilot remote, so the motor can hold your position by itself. Same 45 lb thrust motor in both.
How far will it go on a charge?
That depends on your battery, your throttle setting, wind and current, so we are not going to print a range number. A larger amp-hour battery runs longer. Ask us what other customers on your size water are using and we will tell you what we know.
Can I still paddle it?
Yes. Pull the motor console, put the floor plug in the opening, and paddle it. The plug stores in the tank well so it is always with the boat.
Is it saltwater safe?
The Minn Kota is saltwater-ready. Rinse the motor, the rudder hardware and the tracks with fresh water after every salt trip.
What is the Usable Weight Capacity?
515 lbs from a 638 lb Total Weight Capacity. Remember your battery counts against it. A Group 27 lead-acid battery can run 50 to 60 lbs on its own; lithium is a fraction of that.
How heavy is it to move?
121 lbs assembled. Pull the 16 lb motor console, the 4 lb battery box and the 6 lb seat and the hull is 95 lbs. Take the battery out first, always.
Do I need a life jacket with it?
Yes, and the law requires one on board. The Old Town Outfitter Universal is a USCG Type III cut thin through the back.
What is the difference between Total Weight Capacity and Usable Weight Capacity?
Total Weight Capacity is the total weight the boat can support in the water including everything: the assembled boat, people, gear, pets and the motor or pedal console where there is one. Usable Weight Capacity is what is left for people, gear and pets after the weight of the assembled boat comes out. Usable Weight Capacity is the number to plan against. Hover any of those labels in the Specifications above and you will get the same definition there.
What does the warranty cover?
The hull and deck carry a limited lifetime warranty from the original purchase date. The electric motor drive is covered for 2 years. Coverage is for the original retail purchaser only and it does not transfer if you sell the boat. Keep your proof of purchase and your maintenance records, because Old Town asks for both. Normal wear, sun damage, commercial use, unauthorized repair and modifications are all excluded.
Who handles a warranty claim?
Claims go straight to Johnson Outdoors, not to us. Their instruction is plain: do not return a JOWC product to your retailer for warranty repair. Call 800-343-1555 and take option 2 with your proof of purchase, the serial number and a description of the problem. They issue a return authorization number before anything ships.
How does the Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota ship?
Two ways. If you are inside our delivery area, local delivery shows up as a shipping option at checkout and we bring the boat to you ourselves. We call ahead to set a meet-up, and since we do the unloading there is nothing for you to inspect or sign at the curb. Otherwise it ships LTL freight with a carrier running a 99.9% damage-free rate. On a freight delivery, look the boat over before you sign the receipt and write down any damage you see. That one step protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours. We email the full details once your order is placed.
