Three horsepower that weighs 21.6 lbs. The Torqeedo Travel Ultralight is a 1100 W direct drive motor built for kayaks, canoes and light boats. That 21.6 lbs is the whole unit: motor, mounting system, cables and remote throttle. Direct drive means no gearbox, which is why it runs as quietly as it does.

The remote throttle carries a backlit color display with speed, power draw, charge status and remaining range in either time or distance, calculated off GPS. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are standard, so it pairs with the TorqView app for maps, trip logs, usage data and over-the-air updates. Drive is stepless in both directions, and an emergency magnetic stop key is included.

It arrives ready to connect to a kayak's foot control steering, so you steer the boat the way you already do and use the throttle for power. The battery is sold separately. Pair it with the Travel Battery Ultralight, or buy both together as the Adventure Package.

Does the Torqeedo Travel Ultralight come with a battery?

No. The motor ships with the charger, remote throttle, on-board computer and magnetic stop key. The 1080 Wh Travel Battery Ultralight is a separate purchase, or you can buy both together as the Adventure Package.

How far will it go on one charge?

On the 1080 Wh battery, Torqeedo publishes about 106 miles at a slow 2 mph over roughly 53 hours, about 39 miles at 4 mph over roughly 10 hours, and about 7 miles at 7.4 mph wide open. Real numbers move with hull, load, wind and current.

What is 3 HP equivalent supposed to mean?

It draws 1100 W and delivers propulsion comparable to a 3 HP gas outboard. Torqeedo rates it that way because electric and gas motors are not measured the same, and the comparison is more useful than a watt number on its own.

How do I steer it?

Through your kayak's own foot control steering. The motor connects to that system, so your feet steer and the remote throttle handles power. There is no tiller on this unit.

Is there a tilt or trim?

No tilt and no trim device on this motor. The kayak mount is what sets its position.

What does the app actually do?

TorqView connects over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and gives you maps, trip logging, usage stats, maintenance information and over-the-air firmware updates. The throttle display already shows speed, draw, charge and range without it.

How long is the warranty?
