It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.
Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.
Kayak Shipments
We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.
If we hand deliver it
Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.
If it ships LTL freight
Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.
What we cover
Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.
Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.
Description
The Immersion Research Klingon is a bungee skirt built for paddlers who want a rand-level seal without giving up ease of use. An 11mm high-tension shock cord clamps the deck onto the rim and holds it there through big hits on rivers, lakes, and open water.
The front casing is reinforced with a 4-way stretch blend of Schoeller Dynamic polyamide and spandex in a ripstop weave. That is the panel that takes the abuse when you slide off a rock or reach for the grab loop. Behind it, 4mm Supratex II neoprene covers the deck and rear casing.
Neoprene wraps around and extends past the shock cord in an apron, so water sheds instead of sitting on the seam. Large silicone grip strips on the underside of the casing add implosion resistance and hold the skirt in place while you stretch it onto the rim. The Eagle Talon grab handle is grippy, highly visible, and stays open.

Deck Size: measure your cockpit rim
The accurate measurement is your kayak's cockpit rim circumference. Run a string or tape around the rim at its broadest point, mark where you started, then lay the string flat and measure it.

If your boat lands near the end of a range, size up for easier on and off, size down for more implosion resistance. These ranges cover what about 95% of paddlers prefer. Cockpits under 84" or over 95" fall outside the two sizes we stock, so call us at (615) 696-7887 and we will sort it out.
Waist Size: start with your pants size
Use your normal pants waist size. If you do not know it, measure your waist with a soft tape and subtract 2 inches. That number is your tunnel size.

What size do I need?
Measure your cockpit rim circumference and match it to the Sizing tables above. Run a string around the rim at its broadest point, lay it flat and measure. We stock Large (84"-90") and X-Large (90"-95"). If your boat falls outside that, call us at (615) 696-7887 before you order.
My cockpit measures right between two sizes. Which one?
Immersion Research’s own guidance: size up for easier on and off, size down for more implosion resistance. The published ranges cover what about 95% of paddlers prefer, so either choice works — you are picking which trade-off you want.
How do I pick the waist size?
Start from your normal pants waist size. If you do not know it, measure your waist with a soft tape and subtract 2 inches. That number is your tunnel size.
What makes the Klingon drier than the Shockwave?
Two things. An 11mm high-tension shock cord clamps the deck onto the rim harder than the Shockwave’s 10mm low-tension cord, and the front casing is reinforced with a 4-way stretch Schoeller Dynamic polyamide ripstop. Immersion Research rates the Klingon Best in the line for dryness.
Klingon or Royale Rand?
The Klingon is the driest skirt Immersion Research builds and is still a bungee, so it goes on without a fight. The Royale Rand uses a rubber rand instead of a cord for the most implosion resistance in the line, and is harder to put on. Dry and manageable points to the Klingon; maximum seal points to the Royale.
Is it hard to get on the rim?
Harder than the Shockwave, easier than a rand skirt. The 11mm cord is high tension by design — that tension is the seal. The silicone grip strips hold the skirt in place while you work it around the rim.
How do I take care of it?
No washer, no dryer, no direct heat. Hang it to dry out of prolonged direct sunlight, and only put it away once it is 100% dry — neoprene stored damp is how a skirt starts to smell and delaminate. After salt water, rinse it with fresh water the same day.
How does it ship?
Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
