Shipping Damage Free Guarantee
Accessory Shipments
Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.
It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.
Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.
Kayak Shipments
We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.
If we hand deliver it
Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.
If it ships LTL freight
Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.
What we cover
Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.
Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.
The Immersion Research Shockwave is a bungee spray skirt for beginner and intermediate paddlers. A 4mm Supratex II neoprene deck holds its shape over the cockpit rim, and a low-tension 10mm shock cord snaps on without a fight. It seals whitewater, touring, and sea kayaks on rivers, lakes, and open water.
Silicone grip strips run along the underside of the casing. They bite the coaming so the deck resists imploding when a wave lands on it. Every seam is glued, blindstitched, and fully taped, so water stays out at the stitch line instead of wicking through. The 3mm nylon neoprene tunnel stretches to your waist and stays put.
The grab handle uses a 3D shape that holds itself open, so you can find it and pull it by feel when you need to.
Sizing
Deck Size: measure your cockpit rim
The accurate measurement is your kayak's cockpit rim circumference. Run a string or tape around the rim at its broadest point, mark where you started, then lay the string flat and measure it.
| Deck Size | Cockpit Circumference |
|---|---|
| Large | 84" - 90" |
| X-Large | 90" - 95" |
If your boat lands near the end of a range, size up for easier on and off, size down for more implosion resistance. These ranges cover what about 95% of paddlers prefer. Cockpits under 84" or over 95" fall outside the two sizes we stock, so call us at (615) 696-7887 and we will sort it out.
Waist Size: start with your pants size
Use your normal pants waist size. If you do not know it, measure your waist with a soft tape and subtract 2 inches. That number is your tunnel size.
| Tunnel Size | Pants Waist Size |
|---|---|
| X-Small | 26" - 28" |
| Small | 28" - 30" |
| Medium | 30" - 33" |
| Large | 33" - 36" |
| X-Large | 36" - 40" |
| XX-Large | 40" - 44" |

Immersion Research Shockwave Questions, Answered
What size do I need?
Measure your cockpit rim circumference and match it to the Sizing tables above. Run a string around the rim at its broadest point, lay it flat and measure. We stock Large (84"-90") and X-Large (90"-95"). If your boat falls outside that, call us at (615) 696-7887 before you order.
My cockpit measures right between two sizes. Which one?
Immersion Research’s own guidance: size up for easier on and off, size down for more implosion resistance. The published ranges cover what about 95% of paddlers prefer, so either choice works — you are picking which trade-off you want.
How do I pick the waist size?
Start from your normal pants waist size. If you do not know it, measure your waist with a soft tape and subtract 2 inches. That number is your tunnel size.
Is a bungee skirt enough for whitewater?
For beginner and intermediate whitewater, yes. The Shockwave runs a 10mm low-tension cord with large silicone grip strips on the underside of the casing, which is what keeps it on the rim when a wave lands on the deck. If you are running steep creeks or big water where a blown skirt ends the day, step up to the Klingon or the Royale Rand.
Shockwave or Klingon?
The Shockwave is the easier skirt to put on and the better value. The Klingon runs an 11mm high-tension cord and a Schoeller-reinforced front casing for a drier, more secure seal, and takes more effort to stretch onto the rim. Beginner to intermediate points to the Shockwave.
Why does the low-tension cord matter?
Because a skirt you struggle to put on is a skirt you fight with at every put-in, and a cord you cannot stretch is one you cannot re-seat mid-run. Immersion Research rates the Shockwave Best in the line for ease of use, and the cord is why.
How do I take care of it?
No washer, no dryer, no direct heat. Hang it to dry out of prolonged direct sunlight, and only put it away once it is 100% dry — neoprene stored damp is how a skirt starts to smell and delaminate. After salt water, rinse it with fresh water the same day.
How does it ship?
Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
