Shipping Damage Free Guarantee

Accessory Shipments

Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.

It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.

Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.

Kayak Shipments

We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.

If we hand deliver it

Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.

If it ships LTL freight

Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.

What we cover

Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.

Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.

The Immersion Research Reggie is the original ratcheting backband. It drops in as a direct replacement for the OEM backband in most boats that do not use a forward-adjust system, and it gives you the locked-in feel you want for whitewater, river running, and playboating.

The Reggie runs IR's patented no-slip ratchet, so the setting you dial in is the setting you keep. A plastic frame carries a foam insert wrapped in neoprene, which gives you real structure in the small of your back without the bulk. All the hardware and both ratchets are stainless steel, so saltwater does not eat them. The low profile keeps the cockpit clean and leaves the gear behind your seat reachable.

If your stock backband is worn out, uncomfortable, or creeping loose every twenty minutes, this is the upgrade. Note: adapter straps are no longer included. If your boat adjusts at the thigh braces, use the Forward Adjust Reggie instead.

Immersion Research Reggie Backband Questions, Answered

Reggie or Forward Adjust Reggie?

Look at where your backband straps end. If they run behind the seat, you want this one. If they run forward and attach at the thigh braces, you want the Forward Adjust Reggie instead. Same band, different adjustment.

Are adapter straps included?

No. Immersion Research no longer includes adapter straps with the Reggie. If your install needs them, order them separately — call us at (615) 696-7887 and we will make sure you get the right ones.

Will the ratchet loosen while I am paddling?

No. That is the whole reason the Reggie exists. Immersion Research’s patented no-slip ratchet locks at the setting you choose and holds it, instead of creeping loose every twenty minutes the way a worn stock backband does.

Will the hardware rust in salt water?

The hardware and both ratchets are corrosion-resistant stainless steel. Rinse the boat with fresh water after a session and it will last.

How big is it, and will it eat my storage space?

13.25 inches wide by 5.25 inches tall, and it is a low-profile design on purpose. It supports the small of your back without blocking the gear behind your seat.

Is it hard to install?

No. It drops in as a direct replacement on most boats without a forward-adjust system, using IR ladder lock ratchet straps. No drilling and no modification to the boat.

Will it fit my kayak?

It fits most whitewater and recreational kayaks that do not use a forward-adjust system. The deciding factor is the adjustment system, not the style of boat. If you are unsure about your model, call us at (615) 696-7887 before you order.

How does it ship?

Ships parcel, nationwide. It packs down small enough to box, so it goes out as a standard ground shipment.
