The Nocqua Adventure Gear Pro Power Kit has revolutionized the way I think about powering the electronics on my fishing kayaks. I first saw the kit at the Tennessee Boat and Fishing Expo working alongside Jameson Redding in the Caney Fork Outdoors booth at the show. Jameson was using the Nocqua Pro Power Kit to run his Raymarine Dragonfly fish finder. The kit was supplying enough juice to run the Dragonfly for six to seven hours which I though was quite impressive for such a compact power source and such a large and bright fish finder.
The Nocqua 12 volt rechargeable, water resistant battery weighs in at just a little over one pound and delivers 4.4 amp hours of power. Before installing the Nocqua battery, I was using a 7 amp hour battery that weighed approximately 8 pounds. By carrying two Nocqua batteries, I can have 1.25 times the amount of run time on my fish finder with only about 1/4th of the weight. This is an advantage when having to get my kayak down the banks of rivers to get the boat to the water and back up to take out. This is especially true if I am having to do this by myself.
The installation was quite easy. I simply added a water resistant inline fuse between the battery and my fish finder. The Nocqua Pro Power Kit comes with two solderless connectors that I used to connect the battery’s cable to the inline fuse. I then used some connectors of my own to connect to my fish finder cable. The heat shrink tubing supplied with the kit help tidy things up for a very professional look. Since the Nocqua battery is water resistant, no water resistant case is required which saves on weight, space and additional cost.
The Nocqua Adventure Gear Pro Power Kits are now available at Caney Fork Outdoors. Be sure to stop in the shop and ask about them. You can also call them at (931) 858-5222 and they would be happy to ship a kit right to your door. Caney Fork Outdoors also sells the Nocqua LED light kits for kayaks and SUP boards. I recently picked up a Nocqua Spectrum Kit and will share my experiences with it here on the CFO blog soon.
