Shipping Damage Free Guarantee
Accessory Shipments
Paddles, PFDs, dry bags, helmets, skirts, motors, rod holders, and accessories ship UPS, FedEx, or USPS Ground.
It lands on your doorstep like any other package. We email tracking the day it leaves our shop.
Order gear on the same order as a kayak we're hand delivering or shipping, and it comes with the kayak.
Kayak Shipments
We deliver kayaks two ways. Inside our delivery area, we bring your boat to you ourselves. Everywhere else, it ships LTL freight with a carrier that reports a 99.9% damage-free delivery rate. We'll tell you which one you're getting once your order is placed along with more details.
If we hand deliver it
Nothing to inspect, nothing to sign at the curb. We're the ones unloading your kayak, so if anything is wrong, tell us right there and we'll take care of it. We will call before hand for a meetup place.
If it ships LTL freight
Look the boat over before you sign the delivery receipt. If you see damage, write it on the receipt. That one step is what protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours of delivery. We also will email you more details on this process once the order is placed.
What we cover
Structural damage. Anything that compromises the hull or would void the manufacturer's warranty, confirmed with the vendor. We make it right.
Cosmetic damage. Light scratches or minor surface dents that don't affect performance or structure. We send a repair kit when one is available. If you'd rather have a replacement, a 20% restocking fee applies plus full shipping back to us.
Old Town Canoe and Kayak Warranty
Boats, Drives and Accessories
- Hull and deck: Covered for the lifetime of the boat from the original purchase date. Blemished boats carry 5 years.
- PDL pedal drive: 5 years from the original purchase date.
- Electric motor drives: 2 years from the original purchase date.
- Accessories such as paddles and life jackets: 1 year from the purchase date.
- Who it covers: Original retail purchaser only. The warranty does not transfer if the boat is sold.
Not covered
Normal wear and tear, misuse, abuse, negligence and accidents, commercial use, damage from the elements, modifications, unauthorized repairs, and failure to follow Old Town's maintenance instructions. Proof of purchase is required.
Filing a claim
Old Town handles warranty claims directly. Do not return the boat to your retailer for warranty repair. Call Old Town technical support at 800-343-1555, option 2, with your proof of purchase, the boat serial number, and a description of the problem. They issue a return authorization number before anything ships.
A Sportsman you finish yourself. The Old Town Sportsman 120 PRO is a 12 ft sit-on-top fishing kayak built to be rigged. It paddles out of the box, and it is cut for a trolling motor from day one: a universal four-hole insert at the bow, a second four-hole insert at the stern, thru-hull wiring ports, and cable routing already run for steering. No motor comes with it. The boat is ready for one whenever you are.
The DoubleU hull gives you a stand-up platform at 36 in wide, and 150 inches of aluminum accessory track means you put rod holders, electronics and a crate exactly where you want them instead of where a factory decided. Storage is a large quick-seal bow hatch, a round stern access hatch for running wire, and an open tankwell big enough for a battery and a crate. The Element Seating System and adjustable foot braces handle the all-day part.
If you want the same hull without the Pro cockpit and the motor mounts, the Old Town Sportsman 120 is the simpler boat. Every Old Town hull is rotomolded in Maine and carries a limited lifetime hull warranty.

Old Town Sportsman 120 PRO Questions, Answered
Does the Old Town Sportsman 120 PRO come with a motor?
No. It is a paddle kayak that Old Town built to take a motor later. Bow and stern four-hole inserts, thru-hull wiring ports and steering cable routing are all there from the factory. The motor, battery and steering kit are separate purchases.
Which trolling motors fit it?
Old Town builds the bow and stern mounting points around Minn Kota's Kayak Terrova and Riptide Kayak Terrova. Battery storage sits under the seat and in the tankwell.
Can I stand and fish on the Sportsman 120 PRO?
Yes. The DoubleU hull is 36 in wide and Old Town rates it as a stand-up fishing platform. The EVA foam deck gives you grip when you are up on your feet.
Do I need the rudder kit?
Not to paddle it. A rudder helps once you add a bow-mounted motor, because it holds your line while the motor pulls. Old Town sells a 120 PRO Rudder Kit that runs off a sliding footbrace system, and a separate footbrace steering kit for a stern motor. Both are sold separately.
What is the difference between Total Weight Capacity and Usable Weight Capacity?
Total Weight Capacity is everything the boat can float, including the boat itself. Usable Weight Capacity is what is left for you, your gear and your dog after the Assembled Boat Weight comes off the top. On this boat Total Weight Capacity is 540 lbs and Assembled Boat Weight is 102 lbs, which leaves 438 lbs. Usable Weight Capacity is the number to plan against.
What does the warranty cover, and who handles a claim?
The hull and deck carry a limited lifetime warranty from the original purchase date, to the original retail purchaser only, and it does not transfer. Accessories and life jackets carry one year. Warranty claims go direct to Johnson Outdoors at 800-343-1555, option 2, not back to us. Have your proof of purchase and serial number ready.
What life jacket works with it?
The Old Town Outfitter Universal is cut thin through the back so it sits against a kayak seat instead of fighting it. USCG Type III, 30 to 56 in chest.
How does the Old Town Sportsman 120 PRO ship?
Two ways. If you are inside our delivery area, local delivery shows up as a shipping option at checkout and we bring the boat to you ourselves. We call ahead to set a meet-up, and since we do the unloading there is nothing for you to inspect or sign at the curb. Otherwise it ships LTL freight with a carrier running a 99.9% damage-free rate. On a freight delivery, look the boat over before you sign the receipt and write down any damage you see. That one step protects your claim. Then email clear photos to helpdesk@cfoutdoors.com within 2 hours. We email the full details once your order is placed.
